What Is a Global Variable?
A global variable is a variable that is declared outside of any function or block, which means it is not tied to one specific part of your program. Once created, it becomes visible everywhere in your script, so any function you write later can read it or change it. This is different from a local variable, which only exists inside the function or block where it was created and disappears once that function finishes running.
Example of a Global Variable

How to Use Global Variables Safely
If you do need a global variable, it helps to give it a clear and specific name so it does not accidentally clash with something else in your code. Grouping related global values inside a single object is also a common practice, since it reduces the number of separate names floating around in the global scope. Modern JavaScript, with let and const, also helps by limiting some of the accidental global creation that used to happen more easily with var.
